BBQ Safety Tips

If you have seen the weather report for Utah County for this week you noticed that it is going to be absolutely beautiful, you may even say that it is a perfect weather for the first barbecue of the year. So your friendly professional barbecuers at Burgers Supreme Catering thought it would be a good idea to share some safe barbecuing tips.

  1. Check the tubes that lead into the burner for any blockage from insects, spiders, or food grease. Use a pipe cleaner or wire to clear the blockage and push it through to the main part of the burner.
  2. Check for gas leaks, following the manufacturer's instructions, if you smell gas or when you reconnect the grill to the LP gas container. If you detect a leak, immediately turn off the gas and don't attempt to light the grill until the leak is fixed.
  3. Never use a grill indoors. Use the grill at least 10 feet away from your house or any building. Do not use the grill in a garage, breezeway, carport, porch, or under a surface that can catch fire.
  4. Food Safety Bacteria eats every kind of food you can think of, even brussel sprouts. It grows at any temperature above freezing and stays alive until that temperature hits 165 degrees F. Every second you give it between these two temperatures it is multiplying and causing disease in your food. So, until it goes in to your mouth or on the grill, it needs to be kept cool. The second you are done serving it up, it goes back in the refrigerator. The basic rules are: Suspect Everything, Keep it Covered, Keep it Cool, Get it Hot!, and Use your Head. Remember you are more likely to get food poisoning than you are to get the flu.

There are plenty of other tips for safe grilling but there is one easy way to get around worrying about all of this and that is by hiring Burgers Supreme Catering to cater your next barbecure or corporate event.
